MUSEE MECANIQUE

It seems like when people move away from Burlington, if they’re not headed to Brooklyn or San Francisco, they are bound for Portland, Oregan.  In the past few years Portland has laid claim to many a good friend and musician.  This Friday, Portland will pay some returns.

Enter, Musee Mecanique.

They’ve been through town twice already in the past year or so.  Once at the Skinny Pancake and this past December at the Monkey House.

The band flawlessly recreates the ambiance of their recorded work.    Their most recent release is called Hold This Ghost (Frogstand 2008). The album is really nice.  The kind of album that it feels silly to listen to when its not raining.   Karie Meltzer from Soundcheck Magazine put it somewhat more romantically:

Hold This Ghost is an album for those of us who revel in brooding postmodern novels….”

Err….

Anyway, this is probably the best example of the mood of the album…
