Less Digital, More Manual: Introducing Record Club
The Queen City Social Club—the events and party wing of WOMM, The Radiator—is proud to present Record Club.
Every other Saturday afternoon we set up our turntables at the Radio Bean and let the crowd be the DJ. The very first installation of Record Club goes down Saturday April 3, 2010 from 3 to 5 pm. All genres are welcome and you can even get on the mic to tell everyone why your song is your song. The only rules are that it’s got to be on vinyl (leave your iPod at home) and it can’t be super long so everyone gets their turn.
QCSC are not just a bunch of vinyl-loving Luddites.
The whole Record Club will be recorded as a podcast fortheradiator.org.
Record Club is meant to give people the chance to explore and be exposed to new music. By flexing our multimedia muscle via The Radiator we can give the world a snapshot of what Burlington is listening to on a given afternoon.

Anything goes, as long as it’s on vinyl.

About Queen City Social Club:
The Queen City Social Club is the newly formed events and fundraising arm of WOMM-LP The Radiator. QCSC was started by a couple of Radiator DJs as a way to produce Radiator-sponsored events and get people in the community together creatively. The idea for a “social club” came after repeated listens to the Buena Vista Social Club record on which American producer/musician Ry Cooder traveled to Havana, Cuba to collaborate with scores of Cuban music legends. Such social clubs existed in cities around the Caribbean as a spot for musicians to get together and play and for people to just come out and party. The Queen City Social Club is meant to do the same in our humble burg–it is you, your friends and a bunch of people you don’t know yet.
About The Radiator:
WOMM-LP The Radiator is a volunteer-run community radio station founded by Jim Lockridge of Big Heavy World and Lee Anderson of Radio Bean.
